Invoking Yourself

13 Feb

This is not really a poem, just some thoughts I threw together…

Invoking Yourself

Lady in the Water

Within the imperfect repository of invocation (prayer),
Where wrongs unaddressed, or insults unavenged might dwell,
The woes of society are likely to become your glittering bride.

Divorce your soul from the noisy babble
Inside your head,
Instead, hear the mighty voice of the sea,
Wade out into the still waters,
Under the silence of the starry sky.

Listen intensely to the
Hushed quietus of your mind,
Murmurings of the mysterious
Union with your native deep.

Your Invocation is the soul’s desire,
Uttered or unexpressed;
The motion of a hidden fire
That trembles in the breast.

Your Invocation is the burden of a sigh,
The falling of a tear;
The upward glancing of an eye,
When none but your own divine heart is near.
